Attractions in Auburn You'll Fall in Love with Instantly

Moving to an apartment in Auburn, AL? This should interest you. Even though it's a college town, there isn't anything small about Auburn! Not only is it the fastest-growing city in Alabama, it's one of the fastest-growing cities in the entire country. It's also home to some big-time attractions.

So, what is there to do for fun around town?

1. Root, root, root for the home team

On weekends during the fall, the Auburn Tigers' football team rules the city! Jordan-Hare Stadium holds nearly 90,000 people, but if you're not lucky enough to get a ticket, you can still soak up plenty of Tiger Pride. Start with a trip to the Sports Walk of Fame on College Street, where you'll get to see stones honoring the biggest sports stars in Auburn's history. Then, head to the corner of College Street and Magnolia Avenue -- known to all of the locals as "Toomer's Corner". This is where the biggest celebration takes place after every Auburn win. War Eagle!

2. Soak up the local history

There are a number of historical districts around the city, and each one will take you back in time with stunning architecture. Several buildings around town are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and most of them feature the Revivalist style that was big in the mid to late 1800's.

Auburn University is home to its own historic district. Located on the northeastern side of campus -- not far from Toomer's Corner -- University Chapel, Samford Hall, Hargis Hall, and Langdon Hall are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

3. Become one with nature

Despite all of the growth taking place around Auburn, there are still plenty of untouched natural wonders! Chewacla State Park covers nearly 700 acres, and it sits close to the Auburn campus, so you won't have to travel far to enjoy it. Inside the park, you'll find cabins, campgrounds, great fishing, mountain biking trails, and beautiful picnic areas. Plus, the park is home to a number of special events throughout the year -- including charity runs, mountain bike races, giant cookouts, and outdoor concerts.

If you'd like to see the furry and feathered critters that call Auburn home, you'll find plenty of them at Forest Ecology Preserve. The walking trails here cover 110 acres, and they're the perfect place to spot animals like exotic birds, butterflies, and reptiles.

4. Play 18 holes

Amongst Auburn's 58 square miles, you'll find four great golf courses -- Auburn Links at Mill Creek, Grand National Golf Course, Indian Pines Golf Course, and Pin Oaks Golf Club. Luckily, all of these courses are open to the public, so you'll be able to play any of them anytime you want -- without spending a fortune on membership fees!
