Lodging in Auburn -- Where's the Best Place to Stay?

Maybe you're moving to town and you haven't found an apartment yet. Or, maybe your apartment isn't big enough for all of the friends and family who are coming into town to visit. Or, maybe you’d like to be able to recommend a great hotel to the business contacts that are flying into town.

Whatever the reason, you need to find the very best lodging in Auburn!

Here's how you do it:

- Make I-85 your "home base"

Friends driving into town will likely get here on I-85, and so will those business contacts who are flying into Auburn University Regional Airport. So, it makes sense to look for hotels that are close to I-85. Luckily, there are a ton of options -- from glitzy luxury hotels to more budget-friendly options. Most of them can be found on the east side of town, but there is also a variety just to the south of Auburn University.

As an added benefit, there are a ton of restaurants along and near I-85, so you won't have to travel far from your hotel room to get a good meal.

- Check the school calendar first

Auburn is a college town, which means that all of the hotels are going to fill up at certain times of the year -- like football weekends, parents' weekend, graduation, and at the beginning of the year when parents are helping their kids move in. If you can help it, don't plan to book a hotel during these times. Assuming you can even get a room, you'll likely pay far more for it than you would a few days before or after these peak times!

- Consider a view of nature

If you're looking for some of the most unique lodging in Auburn, why not get a cabin inside Chewacla State Park? All of the cabins were recently renovated, and each one has its own kitchen and stone fireplace. They've got both small and large cabins, so you can book one that's perfect for your specific group. And, no matter which cabin you get, you'll have a magnificent view of Chewacla's hiking trails, lake, and wildlife!

- Step back in time

There are a number of historical treasures around Auburn, and the lodging options are no exception! For example, The Hotel at Auburn University was recently remodeled to include the most modern amenities, but it's also a short walk away from the Auburn University Historic District and the Old Main and Church Street Historic District. Talk about the best of both worlds!
